“A Starry Night” – My first Art Journal Page

Hello Everyone!

So today’s project is very different for me, I’ve never created an art journal page before, but I’ve watched many, many tutorials on youtube about them and decided to buy my first journal. Well after about 5 weeks of letting it sit there and collect dust I came across Marta’s (of Maremi Smallart) ‘Breaking the Blank Page” series on her youtube channel and watched all of them over a few days and suddenly couldn’t help myself. I was so inspired and had so many ideas floating around in my head that I decided to go for it! And here is the result:

I had a lot of fun creating this despite my nervousness at trying something new. The moon is my hubby’s favorite part:

And as much as I love the moon & stars, my fav are the trees and mushrooms. Partly because I absolutely love everything about trees and mushrooms but mostly because of how the gorgeous BoBunny DP looks on them :O)

Here is Part 1 of the video tutorial:

Here is Part 2:

Happy Eyelet Outlet Thursday!!!

Hello Everyone!

I’m back today with another Eyelet Outlet Thursday project!

So I don’t know about you all, but when I’m creating I’m happiest when my hands are dirty! The more paint, ink, etc., on my fingers the better!!! So today I’m sharing two congratulatory cards using one of my favorite mess makers – Gelatos! And I’ve combined them with some of my favorite sticky products at the Eyelet Outlet store. I also wanted to show how much fun you could have with very few products.

The first card was inspired by my favorite time of year – Halloween! And even though we’re a few months off I couldn’t help but use one of my favorite color combos that I consider a Halloween combo, I love the colors black, green & purple together!

To get the beautiful textures on the swirls I used my sponge dabber and white acrylic paint with the stencil first and once it dried I applied the gelatos with my fingers. I originally used Pistachio for the green but found it had to much of a yellow tint so I added the Green Tea over top of it.

Next I wanted to try something completely different so I chose some brighter colors.

Once again, to get these beautiful textures on the bubbles I used my sponge dabber and white acrylic paint with the stencil first and once it dried I applied the gelatos with my fingers. I wanted the bubbles to be multi colored unlike the swirls so I matched the colors putting the lightest at the top of each bubble as kind of a highlight.

Products used in these projects:

Eyelet OutletGlitter Enamel Dots, Purple & Blue Bling Jewels

Stampin Up! Basic Black & Whisper White CardStock & Craft Ink, Curly Cute Stamp Set.

Faber Castell: Metallic Blueberry, Metallic Mint, Metallic Grape, Lavender, Green Tea, Pistachio & Grape Gelatos.

Designs by Ryn “Floral Spirals” Stencil

Prima Finnabair “Bubbles” Stencil

Memento Tuxedo Black Ink

Liquitex Heavy Body Titanium White Acrylic Paint

Well I hope you’ve enjoyed todays projects and that they’ve inspired you to create something of your own. Have a safe and creative day.

Happy Eyelet Outlet Thursday Everyone!

Today I’m sharing 2 very fun and easy cards with you, both birthday cards, one is for a girl & the other a boy. Now I don’t know about you but I’ve noticed that when it comes to girl themes, many times the color scheme is heavy on the pink! But when I was growing up (and still today), I was a big fan of all the colors in the crayon box! And the brighter – the better!! So this first card is for a girl you know who thinks bright hearts and bright colors are awesome! I thought of my 2 nieces that live far away from me and thought that an envelope full of hearts floating their way might be a cute idea ;O) So I pulled out my sweet pack of EO Bright Heart Enamel Shapes and matched the CardStock to them for a bright cheery card!

Here a list of the supplies:

Eyelet Outlet: Bright Heart Enamel Shapes

Stampin Up!: “Phrases for a Friend” Stamp Set, YoYo Yellow, Pacific Point, Elegant Eggplant & Poppy Parade CardStock

Other Supplies: Green CardStock, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, studiog Alphabet Stamp Set, Black Archival Ink Pen

For the inside I wanted it to look like the hearts were getting closer (and their just too cute not to use up), so I added a bunch more in a floaty kinda way ;O)

Here is the YouTube Video Tutorial:  Sending Love on Your Birthday!

For the boys card I wanted something completely different so I decided a grunge looking card would do the trick and I had the perfect embellishments to match the perfect pack of paper to do it! Combining the two and distressing the heck out of the paper gave me a quick and easy grunge card that’s perfect for any boy you know that wants to be a Rock Star lol!

Here are a list of the supplies used:

Eyelet Outlet: Multi Size Green Enamel Dots, Stars Enamel Dots, 8mm Fall Brad Mix, Star Brads

Other supplies: “Like Father Like Son” CardStock by Fancy Pants Designs, “Phrases for a Friend” Stamp Set & Basic Black & Pear Pizazz CardStock by Stampin Up!, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Pop-Up Squares

I decided to keep the flow going to the inside of the card so I used some Stampin Up! Pear Pizazz CardStock and one of the border stickers from the dp pack. I then added the star enamel shapes to dress up the sentiment and some of the smaller enamel dots to make the sticker pop even more.

Here is the YouTube Video Tutorial:  Happy Birthday Rock Star!

Well I hope you enjoyed todays post and that it’s inspired you to create something of your own. I’ll be posting the links to the youtube video tutorials later today & you’ll see how I made my itty bitty envelope and more when they finally upload – it takes forever – sheesh!!!!

Have a safe and creative day Everyone!

Thanks for stopping by :O)

A Message from Mother Earth

Hello All – Happy Earth Day!!

Today I’m sharing a card made in response to Cathy’s “Ways to Use it” challenge over at Splitcoaststampers The challenge was to celebrate Earth Day and I thought that to celebrate this day we need to acknowledge our relationship with our wonderful Mother Earth. Thinking on this relationship, and the simple fact that absolutely everything is provided to us freely gave me the inspiration for the card and the message I placed on it.

Supplies used in today’s project are:

Stampin Up! – Hand-Penned Holidays Stamp Set, Black & White Embossing Powder, Crumb Cake, Brilliant Blue, Daffodil Delight Inks, Night of Navy, Whisper White & Basic Black CardStock,

Tim Holtz – Forest Moss, Mowed Lawn, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, Distress Inks.

Other Supplies – Spellbinders “Large Circles” Die-Cut,  Versamark Ink, White Gesso, studioG Alphabet Stamp Set, Ranger Multi Medium Matte, Mixed Media Paper, Titanium White Acrylic Paint, Pop-Up Dots & Tape Runner.

I thought the pop-up squares were great for the earth and decided that the banner could use one as well so I curled the banner up on one side and placed a pop-up square underneath it and glued the opposite end of the banner flat onto the card to give it some extra depth.

I hope you enjoyed todays project and that it’s inspired you to make one of your own :O)

Have a safe and creative day, thanks for stopping by!

Happy Eyelet Outlet Thursday!!!

Hey Everyone!!

Today I’m here to show you 2 cards I’ve made using Eyelet Outlet Washi Tape This product comes in different widths & finishes with a ton of designs!

On the first card I wanted to use a variety of tapes and I thought the best way to do that was vinyl records. I loved when my Dad would play his Elvis records on my Grandma’s old stereo system. That thing was HUGE!! It was so big we had the tv on it when it stopped working. It was made of solid wood and had carpet over the speakers lol!!! Anyone else remember those???

I made the records using my Spellbinders “Large Circles” die set, I needed a large full circle, one small circle and then 3 different sized rings. For the base I used the 2 1/2″ full circle and then for the 3 rings I matched the 2 1/2″ with the 2″, the 2″ with the 1 1/2″ and then the 1 1/2″ with 1″. The centers were made by taping down some washi tape onto the cardstock and then using my 1″ circle die cutting out a solid circle. Once all the pieces were glued together onto the large solid circle, I simply punched a hole in the center, used my Prima Time Travelers Memories Collection Stamp (such a long name for a small stamp!), with my Staz-On Jet Black ink to add some script to the record center. I sat back for a minute and realized they needed something more, so, with my Stampin Up Whisper White Craft ink & sponge I wiped the white ink in a couple of areas to give it a highlighted look, but it was still missing something. After a few minutes I realized that the thing missing was the look of vinyl! So with my Ranger Multi Medium Matte I put a thin layer over all the records and Voila!!! I had the look of vinyl!!!

For the record centers I used the following Washi Tapes: Foil Pink Circle, Anchor, Bicycle, Donut, Fan – Orange, Zig-Zag Orange

For the sentiment & message I used Stampin Up’! “Measure of a Life” & “Phrases for a Friend” stamp sets as well as my Image Tree Alphabet Stamp Set.

Because two of the records went over the edge I was able to cut them and use the extra pieces for the inside:

For the next card I wanted to show how washi tape could help you when your creative juices aren’t running high. This Father’s Day  card was made using just several items – Stampin Up! Summer Sun & Black cardstock, their “All Holidays” sentiment stamp, black embossing powder, Versamark ink pad, Eyelet Outlet’s Foil Black & Gold washi tape, and some pop-up dots – Easy Peasy right!!

Well I hope you liked todays projects and that they’ve inspired you to create something of your own.

Have a safe and creative day everyone :O)

Happy Eyelet Outlet Thursday!

Good Morning Everyone!

It’s now officially my day of the week to post my new projects on the Eyelet Outlet Blog so I thought I would declare this day of the week here on my blog “Happy Eyelet Outlet Thursday!” And for todays project I made three different sentiment cards in three different styles, all showcasing some of the New Spring Brads

The first card is a “Welcome to the Neighborhood” CAS (Clean & Simple) card. I wanted to really make the Alien Brads pop so I kept it black and white. I flicked some white Gesso over the base of the card and added a moon using my Spellbinders “Large Circle” die and then the Tim Holtz “Alterations Townscape” die for image. I used my “Image Tree” alphabet stamp for the outside sentiment and with my Versamark pad and some Stampin Up! Black Embossing Powder created the sentiment and then cut each letter out in small squares. I then cut some squares (a little larger) on some left over cardstock and then purposely glued the black & white squares together off center to give it a little more interest. I popped them up on some pop up dots and then added the crochet thread to make it look like a banner. Then came time to use my little adorable Alien Brads, they come sitting and standing and for the front I though it would be cute if they were sitting on the sign:

For the inside I decided the standing Alien Brads would look best as they literally look they are waiting to take you on a tour of your new neighborhood lol! I used my “StazOn Jet Black” ink with a $1.50 “studio g Alphabet Stamp Set” I found in the sale bin at Michaels for the message.

For the second card I decided on a “Happy Retirement” sentiment and I had two thoughts, first, what better way to celebrate retirement than relaxing on the beach and secondly, I have the perfect brads to go with such a scene. I created this “Water Color” card using my ink pads by pressing them onto my Tim Holtz Craft sheet and then with a very wet paint brush, I picked the ink up and proceeded to “paint”. I used Stampin Up! “Early Espresso”, “Ballet Blue”, “Pool Party”, “Gable Green”, “Garden Green”, “Sahara Sand” and Primas “Shabby Tote” Resist Chalk Edger for the colors. My white gel pen was used to sketch the hammock and some white paint for the sale boat. I used my “StazOn Jet Black” ink with the “studio g Alphabet Stamp Set”  for the message and the Stampin Up! “Phrases for a Friend” stamp set for the sentiment. Then came the fun part, adding the Sandcastle Brads and the Turtle Brads these bring the whole scene to life for me:

Next was the “Encouragement” sentiment card. I wanted to do something fun and bright for those Flamingo Brads and so I got out my White Gesso and painted a piece of Mixed Media paper, then using my “Mandala” stencil from ColorBox and Finnabairs “White Crackle Texture Paste I gave two of the corners some nice decorative swirls. Once it was all dry I used Prima’s Color Bloom Spray Mists in “Boysenberry”, “Sunshine” and “Lime Wedge” and sprayed them down with water. Once the background was dry I realized that I didn’t like the “Lime Wedge” with the other colors for this so I added “Emerald” over it. I took two old floral chip board pieces and after covering them in some White Gesso used the “Tangerine” and “Summer Sky” Spray Mists on them. Then it was time to add the sentiment from Stampin Up’s “My Friend” stamp set, so I brushed over the area with my “Stampin Buddy” added the sentiment with my Versamark ink and SU! Black Embossing Powder and bang – WHAT A MESS!!!! Turns out, the stampin buddy couldn’t keep the powder from sticking to the spray mist. So after an hour of trying to remove the access power – I had an idea. I pulled out my Black & White Gessos and flicked them all over the background so the you wouldn’t notice the Embossing Powder that shouldn’t be there! So after that fiasco I got to add my two beautiful Flamingo Brads, a little shredded cheesecloth, my flowers and then I noticed something missing. So I went to my bling stash and found the perfect Blue Jewel for the much needed bling and flower center ;O)

Well folks that’s it for today, hope you enjoyed the projects. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a safe and creative day :O)
